boat trip

a great day. had some time this morning and got some new music downloaded on my computer. always nice to have new music. i went to church today. taylor preaches there. a small group of 10. the music is also led by taylor who plays the guitar. what an inspiration he is...can't wait to play like that. after church there was a potluck to which at least 25 more people came for. the food was awesome. had smoked sheefish and salmon and many yummy salads. i knew a lot of people...was a very nice time. i really enjoyed it. i actually only ended up working 3 hrs today. that consisted of cleaning out the work area for when the fisherman arrive...which is wed. can't believe it's that time. now the busy time starts. the barrick crew leave wed evening and we have 2 guys coming that day for one overnight, then they are flown off for a float trip. this evening i gave kathryn a massage - one of the crew. then went with taylor and angela on a boat ride. we went down the aniak river all the way around....omg!!! it was just a beautiful place. you could see the mountains reflections in the water...it was so calm and lovely. the kind of beauty that you forget to take tons of pics of...because you are just enamoured. did get some great pics though. the mosquitos were insane. seriously. swarms. only got one bite on my face though. we all layered our invisible sheild so they don't land on you, but man...i can't even describe it. it's just something you have to experience...the beauty and the bugs all at once. alaska is so beautiful. amazing how just a short boat trip away and you're whisked away to another world. an awesome thing to experience. saw several beavers and pike jumping to get the fly line. a cool thing to watch! didn't want to come back. could have looked at the scenes all night. i truly hope that i get to go on a float this summer. would make my year.
