that's my new nickname around here. dorothy. miss d for short. someone asked me that when i wanted something if i clicked my heels together? funny. if only that worked!
a few good things happened today. that makes up for the not so good things. had an argument with my boss. it was short. it was stupid, however getting little time away from your co-workers, this is bound to happen. he left to take ty out to camp up in the mountains, so he was gone most of the afternoon. nat and i did a wee little jig!! i also did some figuring and i had an awakening today that i make $40 a day. a day. that's slave labor. plus, most of my food is either shipped from my ever-so-understanding mom (much appreciated mama), or i buy it up here. so he's really getting the good end of the deal. found out the float trip that has been promised really is just a line of bull. pretty upset about that one. and i also found out that the boss will not be paying for my ticket home.. which is opposite of what i was told when i came up in may. now for the good things...i received a much needed massage from miriam (it really helped), and she has background in counseling. so i vented and she listened. so on top of a friend, yoga instructor and a massage a wk, i can talk to a counselor! i am thrilled. really it's so nice to have someone to talk with who will listen. thank you miriam. so miriam and i were talking about working out and i had heard that there used to be an aerobics class here. there was but it petered out somehow. so...for some reason i volunteered to teach a half hr aerobics class mondays and thursdays before yoga. not sure how i got myself into that one..but i'm excited. we are going to run it by the yoga class monday. so...guess i need to get something together. i've never taught aerobics..ever. should be interesting. i'll just make them jump rope for 30 min...haha.
we got our food order in from fsa (food services of america) today. fun going thru all the boxes with nat. i ordered some food too. i bought a whole pineapple, grapefruit, tofu, and bananas. yum yum yum. and because it's wholesale it's super, super cheap. they will take the money out of my mini-check. it's so cheap tho, how could i not? this evening i gave a massage to one of the crew. felt good. had another ask if he could get one too. at least i can make a little money doing that as well, so that helps. found out too that aniak is currently out of motor oil. not a single drop can be bought and noone knows when it will be available. only in the bush.
