new day
a good day. and here i was complaining about the gloomy weather and it was sunny and 70 today. a bit breezy but not too bad. a lot happened today. bill (the professor), who actually has his doctorate in geology, showed me how to put together 13 and 14 ft rafts and everything that goes along with it. a lot to remember. these are the 2 sizes of rafts we send out with clients. i have to be able to tell them anything they want to know about all the gear. we practiced putting up the tents, how to use to coleman stove, how to pack for the plane, etc..from telling them where they will be on a topo map to how to roll a sleeping pad the right way to fit in the plane the way it's supposed to. very interesting. i really like this. this is the job that i was told i would be doing. most of the info was new. also, the power was out from 10am til 8pm. they said it would be off most of the day...however, with 10 people here who need to eat and use the bathroom...it was an interesting evening. nat had to make dinner on a coleman stove outside. was hilarious. i had to go across town to where there was power to fill a couple water containers. and just as i was getting ready to take 10, 5 gallon water jugs to a village faucet for baths...the power came on. whew! the crew leaves tomorrow...we are all disappointed. this was a great group of people who we all will miss and have made friends with. actually i got a couple email addresses and will be keeping in touch with at least 2 of them. have 2 clients coming in from scotland tomorrow morning who will be floating the salmon river. they will fly out thurs morning. will be a busy day tomorrow. hope it doesn't rain!

Hey girl!
I´m so glad you´re finally doing the job you were supposed to do. And I´m also glad the rain didn´t stick around for long.
I´m cooking here in Spain. We´ve got a heat wave coming from the Sahara desert, apparently, and we may be up in the 100´s this weekend. Not really looking forward to that. I´m not used to the heat anymore.
Take good care of yourself, my dear. I miss your hands and your company :)
Love you
