thunderstorm

had my 1st thunderstorm experience in alaska this afternoon. thunder doesn't happen here often at all, so it was a nice surprise. and i didn't realize that i missed the sound until all of a sudden i was in the yard and it thundered and starting pouring rain. even had lightening which also doesn't happen here often at all. today was another gorgeous day. the 1st time there has been 2 nice days like this in a row. i actually put on shorts...and my lord how white my legs are. scary. got up to 80, sunny and few bugs again. cooled off during the storm then went back up and even felt muggy. a new feeling here. very busy day. sprayed for 3 hrs this morning, and then it was time to take terry to the airport, get gear ready for the couple who came in today for a float. jim and cathy from kentucky. there are celebrating an anniversary by doing this float. jim is paying rob to fly out next thurs with a bottle of champagne to surprise cathy on their anniv...really cool idea! super couple. also the guys from scotland were brought back from their 10 day float. it's amazing how hairy these guys are after being out in the wilderness without shaving for that long...they don't look like the same men. everyone who lives here year-round complains about the heat...they just don't even know. there is no humidity...it's great! however, it does feel warmer since we're all used to it being 50-60 on a daily basis. still...beautiful weather.
