a beautiful day it turned out to be. got to about 70, and sunny all day, no wind. a laid back day as well. worked in the garden this afternoon, and did odds and ends kind of chores. rob was gone flying all afternoon and the donlin crew just got back at 9 this evening. such a nice event to be able to work in the garden with nat, in the sun while louie rested in the grass chatting to we girls about nothing. during this time bill was playing with the dogs. a super afternoon. and speaking of dogs...2 days ago, louie and i were running errands and we had bill in the back of the truck. we had to go to crowleys (which is where you get gas, one pump) and we were driving down this rd in which there are alot of children and animals all over the place. while driving this dog started chasing the truck and louie is leaning out the window yelling for it to "get", and it started to, but then another really mean looking dog started chasing us and the other dog at the same time. well it ran the 1st dog into the truck and louie accidently ran over the dog. we couldn't have stopped because of bill in the back and these dogs wanted to fight..so, we pulled over and looked and saw that the dog was hurt bad and we got out to look for it and try to find the owner. we did finally and the dog had blood running out of it's mouth...man..it sucked bad. we felt so terrible, i mean like scumbags. so while we are feeling terrible talking to the owner, the only response from the girl is "well i hope you're not hurt dog, because you'll get shot". nice. we then left. not a good story, but the new puppy that showed up at the lodge last night is a good one. she has obv never had any affection of any kind. she's a husky and tall and bow-legged. just the cutest thing. we've all adopted her already and she gets along with all the dogs here well. we named her josie and she will let us pet her now and she is curled up with bill (the dog) right now, happy as a clam. she made alot of progress today already with manners, etc. everyone is already in love with this cute little thing that noone has claimed and we're 100% sure noone will. at least she found a good home because the owner here is a sucker for animals! as we all are. even nat.
