what a long day. started work at 6am, and just ended. i spent the day training marie on anything i could think of. something i haven't thought about in awhile is actually how much information there is to know about this place. from the way rob likes his sandwiches on flying days, to how to do paperwork, answer the phone and feed 16 people 3 times a day. plus, i have to do this inside work, train marie and still keep up the outside. i was told today that i am the person in charge now, other than rob. so i'm managing both the inside and outside. can you say raise? yes. i can. and i did. and i got it. whew! i'm absolutely whipped. marie seems to be a good egg. she's from alaska so she'll do ok this winter with the cold. she's a good cook, a photographer (and pretty good), and a sci-fi chick. alot in common with nat. so it's kind of like having a nat around, but not. we think she'll fit in well. pretty quiet still, but that will change.
the newmont crew is an interesting group. not as much fun as barrick was. the pilot is a real jerk. his name is lambert. when he first met me, he told me 3 different times that he couldn't remember my name. so after he said that the 3rd time, my response was, well lambchop, i think it's pretty rude not to remember someones name after telling you 3 times. he now says my name aloud every single time he sees me. this guy is something else. he's pushy, esp in the mornings. i got snappy with him this morning, and got praised from my boss for doing so. i had every right, still...don't like to get an attitude at 6:30am from a client with jerk intentions. maybe this dude needs a hot carl in his lap. :-)
