Preventative Maintenance

what a day! this am i had the pleasure of dog poo duty- now a daily thing, and also rearranged the bus. this a job when i asked my boss how long he thought it would take - his response? "a couple days". so, 11/2 hrs later, i also cleaned out one of the shops, swept, piddled around outside. i had to make a dump run, a trip to the post office and the store. nat went with me since i have little exp driving a stick, and so off we were. we turned down the wrong side rd leaving the dump and ended up at the river, so as i was making a u-turn, the tires wouldn't move. tried it again...nothing. we thought we were stuck and got out to fix the prob only to realize the front rod that holds the tires on, had fallen off. i laughed until i cried...b cuz really, a little "preventative maintenance" would have prevented this. and i'm just not surprised. so, we walked back. a 40 min walk back - my co-worker doesn't walk, so it was slow. bout a 1/4 of a mile from the house a dude picked us up and dropped us off. as we pulled in the drive, rob came out and gave us this look of bewilderment, and i gave him the look of my naughty finger in his face, and i laughed and laughed. ok, so awhile later nat and i still had to go to the post office and the store so she drove a different truck...we came out of the post office and truck #2 wouldn't start. and again, you just have to laugh b cuz like i said, a little "P.M.", and this stuff wouldn't happen. this time tho we called the boss and we were rescued. again, he showed up with an expression of bewilderment, and i gave an expression of my own. needless to say, the boss won't live this down for awhile. also got a HUGE shipment of food brought in today, helped nat sort thru that, crazy expensive to have food shipped from anchortown. the sun came out today for the 1st time since my arrival, and only for about 1/2 hr. it's cloudy 24-7. but no wind. a nice change from ks. its pouring right now..its also rained daily in the afternoons, still no wind. ever.
