goats
an easier day today. no guests in again, and it's so nice. was able to go to yoga this evening. think i'll be pretty sore tomorrow, but was so nice to relax for the 1st time in a while. it was also a beautiful day, sunny and no rain. hope it stays like this for a bit. took a 2 hr nap this a.m. and cleaned gear this afternoon. we have 6 people coming in from a float tomorrow, so it will be a busy day although we have no guests again. sure makes up for the 16 hr days we've been having. also have a crazy story to tell that is the new rumor about aniak. the other day the sewer people were here looking at where they will be putting in the new sewer and the dude was talking to rob. he told rob this story... he had just come from the "spainards" house - which is miriam and david, and had seen that they had a goat and he went up to pet it. upon walking to the goat, he stepped back because the top of the goats skull was missing and it was covered in plastic. the guy was like "what the hell is up with the goats head", and david replied, oh, well we cut the top part off and in about a yr we will replace it, because by doing that the goat won't want to wander off. we put the plastic on there to keep it clean, (because you know, plastic on an open wound is super sanitary). the sewer guy had never heard of this before and asked rob if he knew anything about it. of course he hadn't and came to me with this story. i had never heard of such a thing and couldn't believe miriam would ever do something like this. the staff here and the sewer guy wondered if this was some spanish voodoo, weird culture stuff...so my mission according to my co-workers and boss was to find out at yoga what the hell was going on. so...when i asked miriam what was the story with her goat, she replied "oh, that it got eaten by a bear?" what? "oh, so it got the skull"...no, what?...miriam answered. so the bear ate the skull off the goat and that's why you have plastic on it? she stood there with this look i'll never forget. so i told her the whole story. apparently, they haven't even had the goats for a month, and they did get eaten by a bear but they were with a friend in another village. no sewer dude was even at their house this wk, and the skull thing she said when they got the goats the breeder had burned the part where the horns come in, and the skin will fall off eventually. but the funny thing is, she doesn't recall anyone being at the house in MAY when they got the goats to have even seen this happen. we have no clue how this all got started or why, but it was hilarious to say the least. also on another note..i read a story today on the internet that a couple from new zealand actually named their little girl "tulula does the hula in hawaii"..the little girl referred to herself as "K"...now there's a story!!

Sounds like they need a goat like "Weird Harold". I suspect he would be willing to take on a bear. He didn't have any trouble with coyotes. Remember?
