spinach

had my 1st garden spinach salad today which i truly enjoyed. eating the fruit of your labor is quite rewarding. was able to cut 2 gallon bags full of fresh spinach. it's so good. not at all like what you get in the store. pulled up one radish to see if they were ready...not yet. probably another wk, maybe 2. the lettuce will be ready to start harvesting soon as well. so great to just walk out to the garden and eat. today i cleaned all the raft gear from the dillistone float. this means you take everything out and clean it, make sure it's good to go. when cleaning a raft you have to get it blown up, hose it down well, check for leaks, deflate and roll it up. this isn't that easy for me yet. these rafts weigh almost as much as i do. and to roll it up tight and carry it to it's place...took awhile. by the end of the summer it should be no big deal as this is something i will be doing weekly. mowed the lawn, pulled some weeds, helped unload a truck full of lumber and this evening had to meet ty and louie (the mountain men) at the point to pick up all the gear that is left over from fish alaska group, scott the guides gear, plus the raft gear ty and louie used. it took 2 trips with an overflowing truck both times to get it all. this was after eating dinner in 15 min and after a full day of work. and i think i'm tired... these guys have been rowing for days. and both rafts were completely full of gear. i'm told that a day of rowing one of these rafts burns 4000 calories. i want to learn. we also have a guy (kent, an atty) in for the week for guided fishing. he came in this morning. older gentlemen who has a very set routine. we are fond of this as he is in his room by 730pm...after he has his vodka on the rocks. apparently he comes up here every summer to fish. too bad because the fishing locally is terrible right now. the water is so high, few people are netting it's so bad. the king salmon run is very late this summer and noone knows when they will be here. i know we're all anxious. a fresh spinach salad would go well with a fresh king on the plate. soon!
