bad karma
it's 11pm and we are still working..or should i say still on call. long day. started at 7am by loading the plane with a gear run for the 2 fish and game biologists that came in today. then the rest of the morning consisted of getting the 2 ready for transport. this afternoon louie flew with rob to the east fork to ready some gear that was still there. so nat and i had the lodge to ourselves. it was nice although we both were working. i mowed the lawn and helped nat out with this and that. we were to have a night free of guests but then we got a call from donlin saying there was a pilot that needed a room. he was supposed to be in on the 8pm flight, but it still hasn't arrived and we can't go to bed because now there are 3 people staying who haven't had dinner and we still have to go pick them up. also, when rob landed this evening, his back tire came off the plane. not a good thing considering his cub is also wrecked. that's his second in that plane this season. the first was the prop and this time the wing. now his other plane is not in use. he's flying the mechanic ned from oregan in thursday as we have a float group of 4 coming on thursday. lets just say the boss isn't too happy right now and we are all on pins and needles. we also got word that a frontier flight crashed yesteday afternoon on the river from engine problems. this morning louie and i went down to the beach to look downriver and sure enough, there was the nose of the plane in the river..couldn't see any detail, but we sure could when we happened to be at the airport when we saw a heli flying the wrecked plane back here. it was a mess, but we got several cool pics. there were 9 people on board, noone seriously hurt. apparently there is some bad karma going around aniak.
