this is the one day of the year i wish never existed. would have enjoyed sleeping in..but that's a luxury i won't have while in alaska. i was very tired all day, especially since i didn't get to bed last night until very late. did a few chores today. had to rake a few leaves, make a dump run, post run, and dug up a rhubarb plant taylor had and replanted it here. he has another that i can harvest from as well. both plants will be ready to cut some fresh rhubarb by saturday. a very lucky plant to have come across. i will have plenty of fresh rhubarb for some time now. lots to freeze and use during my time here. i was given the chance to take it easy today because of what today represents to me...however something always came up and didn't really have a day off at all. too bad, because i really needed it mentally as well as physically. i've noticed my hands are swollen and i injured my left heel digging with the shovel. my foot slipped and my heel hit the top of the spade pretty darn hard. quite sore to even walk on. i did have the chance to take a nap late this afternoon..and am ready to hit the hay early, but have to wait at least an hr before the crew clears out for the night. always ready by the end of this day to wipe it out for at least another year.
